Heavenly concourse of Angels

Welcome to Threading Lights

This wonderful photo is of a heavenly concourse of Angels, all of whom I love and feel uplifted by.

My beloved Grandfather is on the far left, H. Borrah Kavelin. To his left are Mamie Seto, W. Kenneth Christian, Elsie Austin, Paul Haney, Edna True, Horace Holley, Dorothy Baker and Matthew Bullock. Their faces shine with nobility, compassion, great strength and happiness. Champions of spirit and servants of humanity.

They were the members of the Baha'i National Spiritual Assembly of the United States. This photo was taken in April 1953. The last of these great souls, Elsie Austin (b. 1908), a great civil rights activist, passed away Dec 5, 2004.

My dearly loved father, Dr. Bruce Jones, unexpectedly passed away a few months ago, and I wish I knew more about him so I could better carry the loves of his heart in my heart and continue unfolding the threading lights of his compassion in the world.

This photo is of me, my brother Craig and Dad.

He was a very humble man who accomplished many great, but lovingly quiet things in the world. He spent a number of years as a psychologist on the Wind River Indian Reservation (Shoshoni and Arapaho) and helped many people there, choosing to live among them in poorer accomodation rather than in town. He did other things like take a closed down highschool in a poor, mostly black neighbourhood, (in Ft Meyers Florida) and transform it into a local youth centre. He acquired a mobile home and turned it into a mobile computer lab that he took into Native American Seminole land to train youth in computer skills. He convinced celebrities to work with disadvantaged youth in making stage productions. He helped many people with mental health challenges find peace and courage. Some of these things I had to find out from other people or press him for details of his life. There were many other loving acts of service like that my father did, and I am certain many of them I never found out about.

I call this this "Threading Lights" for a number of reasons, but most of all, I want to trace the spiritual connections of beautiful things that happen in the world that I see on occassion. Threads that weave a tapestry of light between the hearts of those in this world and the next and that unfold beauty in this world. I want to honor that for my children.
